Causes: The Marburg and Ebola viruses emerged from tropical rain forests in Africa in the mid-20th century. The viruses live in an animal host or "reservoir." Humans most likely became infected when they encroached on native habitat and encountered the viruses for the first time. Exactly how this initial infection occurred isn't known.

Provide fluids
Maintain fluid and electrolytes
Maintain adequate blood pressure
Prevent and treat infections
Replace blood loss
Strict infection-control precautions
Negative pressure flow rooms if hospitalized
Prevention:
Avoid traveling to areas of know outbreaks (Angola, Uganda, Sudan, Gabon, Kenya, Liberia, & Democratic Republic of Congo)
Hand washing
Avoid bush meats
Avoid close physical contact
Follow strict infection-control precautions
Dont handle remains of anyone expected to be dying from ebola virus
